New Look Pattern 6304

So I’m a bit mad, but I decided to make a shirt in chiffon!

It’s such a pretty fabric but such hard work! You just look at it and it moves. I actually used my rotary cutter to cut out the pattern pieces, which is this first time I’ve used it for dress making. It definitely helped.

I’m making the shirt with a contrasting white collar and front band, which was inspired by a shirt from French Connection. I’m not totally mad though, I am using polycotton, a much more stable material for those more tricky bits!

It’s been all about French seams and top stitching on  this one, which are both techniques I haven’t done before. So far so good though! Just the French seam on the shoulders to join the sleeves left to do now. And the buttons. And then working out how to use my rolled hem foot for the sewing machine…

Yeah, bit of a challenge this one!
